What is the NDIS?

The NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) is a new and effective way of providing personalised support and care to people with disabilities, their families and carers. It is designed to provide reliable support to help people with permanent or partial disabilities carry out daily activities successfully. NDIS provides the support you need to get on with your life. This support can help with everything from health and wellbeing, education, employment, independence and community involvement. With NDIS, you can rest assured that you will receive lifelong support.

Who is eligible for NDIS?

Eligibility for NDIS funding depends upon following conditions:

One must be aged between 7 and 65 years.

  • One must be permanent resident or citizen of Australia or holds special category visa.
  • Relying on support from other person due to a permanent and significant disability.
  • Have been using special equipment due to a permanent and significant disability.
  • Need some supports now to reduce your future needs.

What does the NDIS fund?

Funded support may include:

▪Help with household tasks and personal activities.

▪ Vehicle and home modifications.

▪Mobility equipment and assistive technology.

▪ Transport to be involved in community, social and employment activities.

▪ Therapies related to the disability.

 

What doesn’t the NDIS Fund?

The NDIS will not fund:

▪ Support that is not related to a person’s disability.

▪ Support that is funded by another mechanism or system, such as Medicare.

▪Daily living expenses that everyone pays, such as food, electricity, water, etc.

▪ Things that may cause harm.

NDIS Services We Offer

Supported Independence Living (SIL)
Freedomlink Support Services provide a range of services with options to enable you to live more independently. Our Supported Independent Living (SIL) services are tailored to help participants live as independently as possible. Our clients have choice and control throughout the process.
Support Coordination
Support Coordination is an NDIS funded Support, designed to assist you to make sure you get the most out of your NDIS funding package. Specialist Support Coordination is very similar to Support Coordination but it is funded where there are additional high or complex needs. This support will assist you to build the skills you need to understand, implement and use your plan.
Transport/ Assist Travel
Our friendly care team will keep Transport is an important part of freedom and independence, allowing you to see friends, get to work, and travel around town. The NDIS can provide you with funding to pay a support worker to drive you around or accompany you out into the community. This can include things like shopping trips, social events, or transport to medical appointments.
Social and community access
This NDIS funding aims to improve your ability to take part in the community, social and recreational activites. Assistance with Social and Community Participation is a type of Core Support that is designed to help you build confidence in and around people you love.
